Hi
I am an EFL teacher in UAE and this is my first year in teaching. I am teaching grade 4 students. I have a problem that about 10 students in this class have a problem in reading and writing as a result I decided to intiate sessions for them in order to improve and develop their reading and writing competencies'. But I have a problem that I don't how to intiate this. My first step will be that I will teach them phonics. I want your help?? Give me ideas and strategies.

Nice that you dropped by.

You are on the right track with your plan of action and your intentions are sound.

I don't know what texts/textbooks you are using but I would work first with reading. introducing phonics - different sounds/sound blends at a time embedded in the word (not isolatedly) and then recognizing them in sentences and producing all sorts of game learning activities and then getting them to produce the sentences orally.
